For you Orlando photographers, I took the image laying down on the smaller dock to the left - obviously the family on the right - and careful to get the full reflection in the water below. If anyone in the NC Triangle area knows where there is access to a great dock, I would appeciate the tip.

Some of you have noticed that I’ve taken a break from blogging for a while — with good reason.  We’ve had a lot of changes at Dancing Heart Photography and now is the time for me to “let the cat out of the bag!”

What is the big news?  I’ve been holding off to announce this, but now I’m ready to share the details: the Boyer family has moved to North Carolina!

My husband received a job offer that we could not refuse.  It is working for D.A.N. (if you scuba dive, you better know what this is AND have the coverage - LOL) which stands for Divers Alert Network.  They offer insurance for divers, as well as lead research for dive safety.  It is a perfect fit for him, leveraging his many years of experience in the insurance industry, leadership skills and passion for scuba diving.  His job is in Durham and we are currently staying in Cary until we decide where we want to buy a home. 

The girls and I have been super busy finding all the hottest parks, play groups, shopping malls and the best restaurants in town.  Since schools are out for summer, we spent all of our days together - and a lot of time at the pool.  Needless to say, I have limited my portrait sessions and will most likely continue the break from blogging to enjoy these fleeting days of summer with my little girls. 

This is my other little chicken, Macey.  Who can blame me for wanting to savor more time with these chickens? 

Was this a surprise? Kind of - but not really.  We’ve been talking about moving for years but it was never the right time or opportunity.  This job came up out of the blue, all the stars aligned and we knew this was the right time and place for us to be.

What about Dancing Heart Photography? 

For Orlando clients: I will continue to offer photography services to families in Orlando but on a very limited basis.  I plan to travel back periodically for both client and personal trips and will books sessions during those times.  I plan to make several trips back this summer to enjoy Sea World and Aquatica so if you’ve been thinking about updating your portraits or want to get your holiday photos taken early, please contact me right away to check on my travel schedule.  FYI - I currently have no plans to offer holiday mini session this year.  So if you would like custom designed holiday greeting cards from Dancing Heart Photography this year, please contact me asap to book a regular portrait session.

For Raleigh/Durham Area clients:  Once we get settled, I will start promoting my business in North Carolina to photograph families here in my new home town.  In the meantime, I plan to enjoy this downtime with my family and work on launching a new website and marketing campaign.  However, if you live in this area and happen to stumble across my website before then, please give me a call as I might be dying to do a little work in the midst of all my playtime with my kids.

Probably not much unless you know this child and know what her three favorite things in this world are (besides her mom, dad and sister of course!). 

This is an image of one of my twin daughters that I captured the other night as we were taking a walk before bedtime.  I was reluctant to let her out of the house dressed like this but figured it shouldn’t be a big deal since we just moved and I don’t know anyone in our new neighborhood.  LOL

As I always tell my clients, photography is art and art is subjective.  Most people will look at this image and think nothing much of it.  But to me, this image is ABSOLUTELY PRICELESS!  Yes, I know her head is cropped out of the picture…but don’t worry, I have plenty images with her head in it.  What this image preserves for us is Marley’s three all-time favorite things - at least right now at 2 and 1/2 years old).  These things bring her so much joy and when I look at this picture, it just makes my heart smile to think about this precious time of her life!!! 

1) Her beloved pink dog.  She has had it since she was a newborn and is so in love with it.  She treats it like her baby.  Sleeps with it and carries it around all day.  Tries to dress it the same why her sister dresses baby dolls.  Marley used to chew on the nose and carry it around in her mouth that way.  This poor little doggie has gotten so much abuse but oh so much love!

2) A hand-me-down, blue Cinderella nightgown/dress.  Marley loves princess everything!   When you talk with her, the first thing she will tell you is that she is a princess.  At first, it was Snow White because it was the first “dress up” princess dress she ever put on (and Macey is Belle - which she says Bella!).  But after watching the Cinderella movie a few times, she wants to be Cinderella.  I believe it was my friend Lisa G. that gave me these princess clothes and this Cinderella nightgown that Marley can’t stop wearing.  I kid you not - anytime we are home you can count on Marley to be wearing this dress.  Even when I put clothes on her, she takes them off and puts this dress on.  I’ve already sewn it a few times and it has a big rip up the side but she doesn’t mind one single bit because in it, she feels like a princess!

3) Pink glitter, princess glass slippers.  That is what we call them anyway.  I bought these at Target because I really didn’t want her to wear the cheap, plastic princess shoes because like the Cinderella princess dress, she was wearing the glass slippers every single minute of the day when we were home and I was afraid they would hurt her feet.  So I got these ”new glass slippers” to replace the other kind.  You should see her prance around in these things…and do the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse “Hot Dog” Dance in them.  She is hilarious!  She has scuffed them up so I took a pink highlighter to them.  I’m trying to find addition pairs in bigger sizes because I don’t know what is going to happen when she outgrowns them.

So that is a little insight on one of my little girls.  My next post will be about her sister’s like quirks, honest sweetness and absolutely complete different personality!  I thank God for given us two different children because I seriously don’t know if I could handle both of them being the exact same!!!  LOL
